It sounds basic, but everyone needs a reminder. Everyone. Doug and I bash on running backs with regularity. Part of that is because we play in a ton of PPR leagues that start two or less running backs and four or five receivers weekly. Quarterbacks lag in trade market value in general. Why is that? Most leagues start only one and the positional scoring creates a giant tier of ‘good enough’ options outside of the player or two with a huge difference-making year.
Even leagues you have played in for a few seasons now, take a moment to stop and smell the league settings. Is the quarterback scoring slanted towards yardage or touchdowns? Passing or rushing production? Is there return yardage that gets swept under the rug by half the owners in the league?
There are many different nuances from league to league that make it special. Odds are even ‘in the know’ owners are not taking full advantage of the league settings, starting lineup requirements, bench depth, rookie draft specifics, etc. as much as possible.
We scour over trade possibilities, who to target in our rookie drafts, and even our avatar more than knowing our league settings and scoring like the back of our hand. At least a couple of times a year take a timeout, pause the 365-day season that is dynasty fantasy football and get to know your league again.
