Social Media has so much information and so many good Twitter questions are being put out there and then the advice is missed and lost forever in the Twittersphere. The goal of this weekly column will be to point out key Tweets each week that our UTH staff have answered so that you can really dive into everyday strategy questions that the UTH Staff sees on Twitter.
Patrick Kerrane (@pkerrane)
@ChadParsonsNFL am I doing it right? GAVE Murray Dez Julio D. Walker 2.01 FOR ODB Sammy C. Michael L. Green 1.01, 1.02, 1.06 #UTHtrades
— Tom (@TomBodenheimer) April 28, 2015
You can see that @TomBodenheimer is making a UTH approved move. Yes, this is a BIG BOY trade and if you make a move like this you will want to make sure that you keep evaluating your team. The above mentioned trade led to a lively back and forth between our UTH contributor Patrick and Charlie:
@CoolHandCP3 @TomBodenheimer @ChadParsonsNFL Idea is to take a small production hit in 2015 but extend team window & add premium depth — Patrick Kerrane (@pkerrane) April 28, 2015
This back and forth went on for over an hour and I highly recommend everyone taking time out to look at the whole twitter conversation. But, when I read through it I was reminded of the reasons I started writing about dynasty fantasy football. I started writing because I was inspired by what I was hearing on the UTH podcast and because I have a very strong idea on how I run my teams. That point of view is shared and put into action by the staff of UTH. In dynasty fantasy football, just like in life, we should all be passionate about what we are doing and how we approach every move that we do. Take a stance and stick with it no matter what Charlie comes around and tells us that we are “throwing away” good players. UTH has a specific voice and it is your decision if you are going to listen or not. Obviously Patrick is passionate about his point of view and does a great job at defending his points. Do not be afraid to trade away your “studs” and have the “big hairy balls” to make the move that no one else will and look at the big picture of your team!

Make sure your new leagues have by laws that protect everyone, winners and losers. http://t.co/8rCzfgwbsk

Jumping into a new league is fun, but how much do you dive into the league before starting or adopting a new team? What type of protection is there for fees, draft picks, and keeping managers locked in long-term? Yes, we all play for fun and want to focus on championships and team building, but know who you are playing with and what the rules are. I play on a lot of different sites in a lot of different types of leagues. Recently a trade was struck between myself and another owner and right after the trade was agreed on the other side went to the Commissioner and said that he didn’t read part of the trade offer and he would like the trade to be reversed. I looked through the by-laws and there was nothing to protect me and that owner hasn’t responded to any of my trade offers since.
Matt Williamson (@WilliamsonNFL)
.@Phorts Well, I must say, it does help that I don’t have to go to a non-football job all day too!
— Matt Williamson (@WilliamsonNFL) April 24, 2015
No Matt Williamson is not a UTH contributor on the site, but he has been on the podcast and communicates a lot with Chad and Doug. Moreover, I want to point out that we are not all as lucky as Matt Williamson. The average person does not scout the NFL for their living, have endless tape at their fingertips, and was brought up in the scouting community. What you should have is the dedication to stick with your teams and put in the effort to keep up these teams. Chad often comments that once your team is drafted there is only simple weekly maintenance that needs done. You should take the time to be dedicated, do your research, stick to your guns, and give your league mates enough respect to keep working at making your team better. #NoMoreOrphans
Happy NFL Draft Everyone!
