Is Sammie Coates the best combination of physical traits and potential situation for the cheapest cost?
Jordan Spires: Yes, Coates based off Price might be the cheapest WR you can grab right now. Steelers are a high-powered offense and even though Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant are the lead dogs, Big Ben passes enough that there is room for 3 or even 4 pass catches to be valuable fantasy assets. Coates in my opinion is a better player than Markus Wheaton and he’s been on fire lately.
Tim Torch: Yes. Personally when I watch the Steelers’ games lately I find myself wondering how much different this team would be with Coates in as the WR3. He is bigger, faster, and provides much more upside than Wheaton. This may be a case where the Steelers are allowing him to redshirt a year and be insurance if Bryant does something else dumb.
Tim Smith: I like Coates; however, I think DeAndre Smelter is the winner of this category: Love the physical tools, better hands, and better situation.
Katie Flower: As far as cheapest cost on the Steelers roster, yes. I still have high hopes that he can earn a role in 2016 and beyond. People used to use Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense as the gold standard for fantasy production and just to own a piece was always good. Now Pittsburgh and Arizona have seemed to have taken over that sentiment, at least for me. I have never been that sold on Wheaton’s measurables, he is middling at best. He is the beneficiary of extra coverage on Brown and Bryant. I’ve stashed and held onto Coates in many of my leagues and will be trying to obtain more shares as people make space for rookies.
DeVante Parker made one the highlight catches of Week 13, what is his upside in 2016?
Jordan Spires: Parker’s upside is the same as it was when he got drafted. He has the upside to be a top 15 WR year in and year out. It looks like the combination of playing time and foot injury have finally come to pass the last few weeks and he’s making the most of his targets even though the Dolphins continue to be a dumpster fire.
Tim Torch: Loved the catch. In my opinion Parker’s upside will be capped. Tannehill has a connection with Landry which was started their rookie year together. I do believe Parker will get better with more playing time and I can see him as a WR2. With all things being said Parker should be a WR4-5 on a normal UTH squad and a person will have time to see what they have in him.
Tim Smith: Parker’s play and role in the offense for that game are prelude to what is to come. Sure, Landry is a good receiver but he doesn’t have the upside that Parker does. I think Parker takes the featured role in 2016 and rolls with it: A WR2 in 2016 with upside for more.
Katie Flower: That catch is what he should be doing, it is what we expect of him. It is just the beginning. Those that have been patient with him will be rewarded. I don’t think he is a year 2 guy, I think he will take that normal 3 year window before he really finally tes his spot on the scene. Parts of this may be attributed to his coaches and the transition of the offense.
