Values of the Week
Tyrod Taylor – $10,600 (@ PHI)
Over the last three weeks the Eagles have allowed on average 298 yards passing through the air and 13 passing touchdowns. With Tyrod finally learning how to throw to Sammy Watkins and the rest of this offense coming on Taylor is a top play at quarterback this week.
Gio Bernard – $8,100 (vs PIT)
I looked back to the last match-up this year against the Bengals and the Steelers and the score was low. Then I remembered Week 8 was Big Ben’s first week back from his injury. This game has the makings of a shoot out and Vegas agrees with a 49 point game total (second highest of the week). If these offenses are going back and forth this will be a Gio game.
Better GPP play than cash game
Frank Gore – $8,500 (@ JAX)
A strong pivot from Gio is Frank Gore who gets the Jags defense who has allowed 11 touchdowns this season running. The Colts will be looking to ride Gore to the playoffs or at least until he breaks.
James White – $8,100 (@ HOU)
White is a deep gem who is priced a little higher than I like this week for the gamble you would have to take on him. With all things said if White stays involved he is facing a team who has allowed 6 receptions for 45 yards to Mark Ingram, 5 receptions for 67 yards to Powell, and 5 receptions for 43 yards to Gio Bernard.
DeVante Parker – $7,800 (vs NYG)
DID YOU SEE THAT CATCH? I could have watched Parker’s catch on loop for an hour. This week Parker draws the NYG secondary who was burnt by both Marshall and Decker last week. Parker is still priced at a reasonable price so we can fit him in and make room for our studs.
Ben Watson – $8,400 (@ TB)
This week Ben Watson will be going up against a Tampa Bay defense who just lost their leading tackler to a 4-game suspension. The middle of this defense will be week and Watson has the chance for a really nice game in the other highest point total of the week for Vegas.
Players To Avoid
Tom Brady – $14,600 (@ HOU)
I am not the person who pays up for quarterback in redraft, dynasty, and in daily. I prefer to play the match-ups at quarterback and take the value elsewhere. With Brady having few weapons at his disposal he is a big fade for me this week.
Devonta Freeman – $15,000 (@ CAR)
The Falcons are just looking bad and there are no signs of turning around with tough match-ups the rest of the way. Free did put up 20 points last week, but I want more for the price.
Todd Gurley – $12,700 (vs DET)
When there is no involvement by your best player in the passing game, little creativity and a lack of play-making in the offense this is what happens. The Rams do have a new OC in town and I will be interested to see what changes happen moving forward. For this week I am sitting Gurley against a Detroit defense who has turned it around.
Julio Jones – $16,700(@ CAR)
This is one of those calls which could turn around and bite me in the butt. In order for Julio to reach full value he would have to put up 50 points. While it is possible it is not likely. If I am going to spend this kind of money on a receiver I will spend it on Antonio Brown who has put up three 40-point games in his last four games.
Jordan Reed – $9,600 (@ CHI)
The Chicago Bears have done well against the tight end this season and are running against a good one here. With other options in the passing game now, DeSean Jackson returning, Cousins has been looking in other directions with his targets.
Stacks of the Week
Tyrod Taylor ($10,600) + Sammy Watkins ($11,400) = $22,000 (@ PHI)
Finally on the same page I am fitting, at minimum, Tyrod in most of my line-ups against the terrible secondary of the Eagles. If you have the money to stack Sammy Watkins in you matchup too you will be golden.
Ben Roethlisberger ($12,700) + Antonio Brown ($16,700) + Martavis Bryant ($10,600) = $40,000 (@ CIN)
I want as much Big Ben and the Steelers offense as I can fit into my team. With Brown putting up three 40-point games in his last four games I want to have him in my line-up because I know other people will fade him due to price. Put your Steelers in the line-up and then make everything else work.
