Question: The Vikings won by 21 points despite a lackluster game from Adrian Peterson (21-63-0, 0 RECs). Is Stefon Diggs’ bounceback, Jerick McKinnon’s flashing, or just the Bears stuggling defense the biggest takeaway from the game?
Tim Torch: Diggs and McKinnon are definitely the takeaway because of the production without ADP and showing that this team is being held down by ADP. Yes, ADP is amazing when he is going, but if this team is behind they have no experience in getting this offense jump started and going. This whole team might be better served if ADP took the next week or two to get right physically for the playoffs.
Jordan Spires: Gotta give the credit to Diggs and McKinnon. The Vikings are actually being held down by AP right now. They know how talented he is and how frustrated he would be if he didn’t get at least a certain number of carries per game. So the Vikings offense will lend itself, in usual situations where they would throw or whatever, to just go back and hand it off to Peterson. This causes an offense that could be pretty darn explosive to be very predictable and mediocre. Peterson has overperformed for sure this season, but he still has lost that step that he used to have and he’s holding a blossoming offense back from developing.
Katie Flower: I think it is a combo of all, but let’s not forget how good Bridgewater looked too. His throws were sharp and crisp, even his deep throws were on the money. It was great to see McKinnon get some work and hopefully they use him more as a change of pace. Great to see Diggs get his mojo back.
Tim Smith: Young guns! Diggs and McKinnon are the future of this team and they are dynamic. Their athleticism and explosive playmaking ability were on full display this week. Diggs seems to have a second gear in the red zone, practically willing his way into the red zone as he extended through defenders. I am a Diggs truther–I have never doubted his ability or his future prospects since his breakout. I love his upside.
