Continuing with the season recaps, here are other installments in the series:
SiriusXM IDP League
Dirty Dozen League
Maximum Security League
Team UTH Dynasty League
Delta 11 Dynasty League
Delta 12 Dynasty League
This league was originally drafted in 2013 and I loved the startup draft results. I just missed out on the playoffs in year one, coming down to the final week of the regular season. With a stocked wide receiver depth chart and the flexibility to go 1RB-4WR in the starting lineup, I planned on consistently making a title run in 2014 and beyond.
- 12 teams, 0.5 RB PPR, 1.0 WR-TE
- 22-man rosters
- Start 1-1-2-1 with two RB-WR-TE flex
2014 Rookie Draft Haul
1.03 Bishop Sankey
I broke my BPA rule here with no viable running back on my roster and a deep crop of wide receivers. Not smart as I rarely started Sankey this season and even when I did, he was a shadow of the impact I expected. Any of the picks in the rest of round one would have been more impactful this season and better bets long-term.
1.05 Eric Ebron
Love the talent and did not expect anything from Ebron in 2014. Top-drafted tight ends rarely bust, but surely Ebron is more affordable on the dynasty trade market today than a mid-1st. Luckily, the player I should have taken here, fell to me at 1.08….
1.08 Odell Beckham
No comment needed, turning into a weekly difference-maker shortly after seeing the field mid-season.
3.04 Jerick McKinnon
McKinnon was the easy third round rookie pick for me in 2014 and has been a profitable move to-date.
4.08 Charles Sims
In addition to Jerick McKinnon, I collected Sims in the middle rounds of rookie drafts often in 2014.
5.08 James White
Ended up flipping White prior to the season for a literal windfall of future value.
Noteworthy Moves
In addition to the rookie draft, here are the moves of note:
8.4.2014 Traded James White, 2016 3rd for 2016 1st
When White got some preseason buzz and another came knocking for White via trade, I heeded Doug Veatch’s advice and held him over a barrel. The other team is a playoff contender, but even if this deal was White-3.01 for 1.12, I love it long-term.
8.20.2014 Added C.J. Anderson
I was agressive in adding Anderson as I love to hedge against running backs who I am concerned about regarding their talent (read: Montee Ball).
8.27.2014 Was offered Martellus Bennett, 2015 3rd for Travis Kelce
I would go back and accept this if using Doc Brown’s time machine. Bennett was a beast for most of this season (where I could have used an upgrade at tight end) and the future 3rd ended up as 3.08 as a bonus.
9.3.2014 Added Latavius Murray
My roster was tight on the backend, but managed to add Murray prior to the season *just in case* Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew were done (they were).
9.10.2014 Added Justin Forsett
Forsett saved my running back-deficient roster. I started him most weeks. Thank you waiver wire.
11.13.2014 Was Offered Lamar Miller for my 2015 1st + 3rd
Miller would have helped my running back group down the stretch and that first rounder was looking like a back-of-the-round pick. I like Miller and this would have been a positive value move looking back.
12.3.2014 Added Jonathan Stewart
I took a stab on Stewart as I needed running back depth and Stewart has easily looked like the best back in Carolina this season. My expectations long-term for the oft-injured Stewart are not high, but he has been a top performer to close the fantasy season.
The Season
Like 2013, I was fighting for a playoff spot until the final week of the regular season. Victory points are the method of standing in this league, so up to four points are available to a team each week. After Week 10, I was three points down from the final playoff spot (4th place) and tied with three other teams at 21 points. I caught fire over the final four weeks with 16 points – the maximum possible – as I finished with a three-point cushion on the No.4 seed. I crushed the No.1 seed in the semi-finals by more than 50 points and won a low-scoring matchup (thanks for the sweat Andrew Luck) in the title game to secure the title. This six-game stretch was one of my strongest for any dynasty team in my ownership history. In addition to the title, I won the total points title for 16 weeks.

Outlook
There is plenty of upside at the running back position heading into 2015 as Justin Forsett was a band-aid when I needed a warm body this season. My starting four wide receivers can go toe-to-toe with any team in dynasty. Imagine if Michael Floyd and Cordarelle Patterson had not been unstartable for a majority of the season.
